I'm still unsure whether to have the head and body as separate objects or not. I separated the geometry for now to see what it would look like smoothed out and I somewhat prefer them as 2 separate pieces of geometry as it creates a fold under the cheeks and mouth area which isn't as good when it's one object and can imagine I would run into skinning issues if I keep it as one object.

Hi Alan I had read your comment, but these orthographics are mainly focused on getting the basic shape for the character down and not so much focused on textures as there will be a lot of variations for this one shape. I'm also still unsure how to texture as I have to think about my limitations within Arnold and so far I haven't been able to find anything within Arnold that I like and is achievable with limited resources.
