I hoped to include this bit of concept art with my minor project submission but it wasn't good enough to upload at the time. This is a shot from the film in which the village is being introduced.

This is the main colours and look I am going for with this project. Lots of bright saturated colours and hard shadow edges, on an overall brown/saturated green background.

I wanted to create at least a couple bits of concept art to show off the environment, but was struggling to find a composition that works, so I tried compositions that are different to what I usually draw. These are very rough and all about just finding a good composition, if anyone has a suggestion on which they think looks best that would be appreciated.

I decided to take one of the shots from the animatic which I thought stood out, and turn it into concept art.

These are more about figuring out the shapes, the colour is just temporary. I was aiming for a more rounded looking house to fit in with the cute feel of the environment. I've known from the start I wanted them to be some sort of jungle huts.

As suggested by Phil I've decided to go for a more simplistic stylised version for the jungle which the creatures live in.

At the moment, the concepts I am producing are in greyscale with a gradient overlay, once I am happy with some of these concepts, I will start making them full colour as I want the concepts to convey cuteness and happiness in an over the top way, so there will be lively colours.
